Collaborative Trainer, NVC Coach

A Mississippi native and New Yorker at heart, Kat Nadel now lives in the Bay Area with her husband. Kat’s background – trained dancer/actress, movement and dance teacher, yoga, meditation and travel enthusiast – along with her desire to skillfully and peacefully confront conflict head-on – led her to Nonviolent Communication. She first learned NVC while traveling in India, and continued her studies with the New York Center for Nonviolent Communication (NYCNVC) under the mentorship of Thom Bond. Over a period of 3 years, she worked closely with Thom and his students on developing curriculum and creating and facilitating new programs for NYCNVC. She also served as staff-member, NVC introduction facilitator, practice group leader, and NVC mentor to those wanting to integrate NVC into their daily lives. Her time with NYCNVC, Thom and her NVC friends and colleagues truly changed Kat’s life, which she extends the utmost gratitude for.

In her current role as assistant trainer and executive assistant at LUMAN, Kat works in corporate settings to support changing the way we do business, from the transactional to more personal. She brings NVC consciousness into workplace settings as well as her day-to-day experience, and if finding more opportunities to share NVC in business. Kat is also working towards becoming a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC), “a global organization that supports the learning and sharing of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and helps people peacefully and effectively resolve conflicts in personal, organizational, and political settings.” (About CNVC).

Kat’s mission is to change the world one conversation at a time. She believes the way we do anything is the way we do everything and shares NVC as a way of life that engenders understanding and compassion. She is excited to lend her organizational and facilitation skills to BayNVC through her role as a Collaborative Trainer.
