Working for Transformation without Recreating the Past: An Intensive for Change Agents in Prague, Czechia

June 19, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - June 22, 2017 @ 6:00 pm

“Imagine a future world in which we all value people and life and participate in the flow of generosity. A world where sharing our gifts and the mundane tasks of life are both done with wholehearted willingness, free of coercion. A world where attending to everyone’s needs is the organizing principle.” — Miki Kashtan, Reweaving Our Human Fabric: Working Together to Create a Nonviolent Future.

If you are inspired by this vision, this workshop is an opportunity for you to start exactly where you are — in your life, your organizational context, your activism, or your spiritual community — and find ways of moving in that direction.

  • Are you committed to working for change and longing for an inspiring vision for the world?
  • Have you often wondered why so many social change organizations are full of conflict?
  • Have you been curious about nonviolence and how it can support work for transformation?
  • Are you eager to learn tools for facilitating efficient collaborative decision-making?
  • Do you wish to grow your capacity to connect with people across differences?
  • Would you like to find a path for attending well to power – your own and others’?
  • Are you drawn to combining love, courage, and truth in your work for change?
  • Are you looking to align your organization with its purpose and values?

If you said “yes” to some of these questions, then this intensive training might be just what you want.

Whether you are a change agent within an organization, a facilitator, an activist, or are simply exploring how you might contribute more to life, this intensive can offer you a framework for making sense of your own passion as you build community with peers. The vision for this intensive includes bringing you clarity about how to work for change in ways that are consistent with your vision, values, and goals.

The event organizers interviewed Miki about her reasoning, vision, and passion for this type of transformative work and created this video. It is just under 5 minutes long and includes some questions and answers about who might be interested in being a participant in this event.

What you can take away

You are likely to emerge from this training empowered and equipped with the following:

  • Practices to support you in embracing nonviolence in thought, word, and action

  • An approach to building alternative institutions that anchor and embody your vision
