The NLSJ team returns for our 11th annual week-long retreat! Come deepen your understanding of the systems that promote racial, ethnic and class inequities in North America, and begin healing from the impact of living within those systems. Our trainers will help you examine the social structures that perpetuate systems rooted in privilege for one group over another, and explore ways we can use NVC to shift those systems.
At this one-of-a-kind NVC retreat, you will learn to use the language of compassion of NVC to walk the talk of critical social change.
Mika Maniwa, former participant in the NLSJ Retreat says:
“Have you ever been with activists who work passionately for their cause but don’t have NVC consciousness? Have you ever been with deeply caring, passionate NVC folks who don’t have a systemic understanding of how power works on a mass-scale in the world over time? This is the place where you get to have conversations with people who have both. For me, the retreat has met needs for learning and community. Being with a group of people who understand how we internalize racism’s corrosive messages, how we come to see ourselves and our own people through a distorted lens. Here I get support from warm, caring community and have received an even deeper healing on a cellular level. It’s safe enough for me to sing and even dance, and I don’t let loose like that with just any group of folks. I look forward to it every year.”
Meditation, yoga, swimming, hiking are all available on-site, and ample time will be offered to engage in these revitalizing activities.
