“The Compass” is Arnina Kashtan’s unique methodology which synthesizes practices from Nonviolent Communication, The Work of Byron Katie, and Inner Child work with Arnina’s own discoveries, insights, and tools to support you in moving beyond old patterns of guilt, shame, anger, and fear…into freedom and an untapped celebration of who you really are.
(With transcripts that can be easily translated into multiple languages with Google Translation.)
Do you generally try to avoid, get rid of, or suppress “difficult” emotions such as fear, anger, guilt, and shame? Do you see them as enemies?
If so, it’s easy to understand why because they can cause quite a bit of suffering. But the suffering is, for the most part, unrelated to the emotions themselves. It’s possible, and liberating, to feel fear, anger, guilt, and shame with little to no suffering.
You might be asking, “How?”
The first and very significant step is to get to know these emotions in depth. Ask, open up, and explore to understand them. What is their source? Who and what are they coming to protect or trying to serve? What do they actually want from us and is there a way to give it to them with less suffering on our part? (The “Compass” answer is “Yes!”)
In this workshop, Arnina explores the first step towards the surprising possibility of living with these “difficult” emotions without the all too familiar suffering associated with them by courageously exploring their lesser-known world, uncovering their hidden intentions, and discovering a path to liberation from their oppressive grasp.
Do you sometimes feel stuck in painful patterns that contribute to feelings of fear, anger, guilt, and shame? Do you often find yourself trapped in thoughts of comparisons, judgments, or ”shoulds”?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, radical compassion can support you in liberating yourself from these painful patterns so you can enjoy an unprecedented sense of connection with yourself and others.
Intrigued? If so, find out more in this workshop as Arnina shares a new pathway towards liberation.
How can we live without the powerful emotions of guilt and worry, especially if we are parents?
It seems like guilt and worry come built-in for caring parents and caring people in general, not surprisingly so. These two emotions are driven by the primal need for survival, but almost inevitably, in spite of their good intentions, they turn our life and our relationships into havoc.
So, what’s possible Instead?
Once we understand the true intentions and aspirations bubbling below the guilt and worry, we can choose an alternative strategy to achieve what’s really important to us – with much less suffering for all.
Intrigued or simply curious?
In this workshop, Arnina shares three steps to relating to yourself and your children with more compassion, clarity, and connection.
We also invite you to read, Parenting Without Obedience, written by Arnina and her sister, Miki, and this article, by Arnina, on parenting without guilt and worry.

“My sister Arnina puts together so much — systemic perspective, compassion for trauma, deep understanding about how humans function, and more — into a comprehensive, deep, and fully accessible framework that supports dramatic shifts in the experience of being alive. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a passion for freedom.” ~ Miki Kashtan
“The compass course is vital to anyone serious about transcending trauma and/or becoming certified as a trainer of nonviolent communication (NVC).” ~ Monica Espinoza
“Arnina’s depth, skills, sense of humor, and ability to articulate so many nuances so clearly are a gift for anyone seeking greater inner peace, freedom, and a kinder relationship with oneself and others.” ~ Kristi Dee Doden
“Integrating the principles and practices of The Compass into my daily life has increased my capacity to be the change I want to see in the world. My heart is full of gratitude for the incredibly valuable and deeply meaningful gifts that Arnina shares with such grace and compassion and I’m grateful also for the community that participates in and enhances the learning. What a nourishing experience of shared humanity The Compass has and continues to be.” ~ Heather Austin
“Having more clarity on the personal, familial, and social contracts I unconsciously accepted, helps me feel more welcoming and curious towards myself and others. More often than before, I feel less impatient with myself, less resentful towards others, and more empowered to act from choice and mutual care.” ~ Fernanda Cecin
“Arnina builds a space where I feel at home to share personal, parental, and relational matters. The way she unravels the themes the participants bring, and the compassionate light she sheds on them, boost my inner power and my capacity to be compassionate towards myself and others. She promotes an awareness that helps me operate beyond the right/wrong paradigm and to be more and more in choice of my actions.” ~ Grace Deckers
“I feel more free, more alive, more motivated and empowered.” ~ Claudia Sánchez
“I appreciate the way individual experiences are used to create a structure for teaching universally. I am newly aware of choices there are in how I speak to myself, and even though it is a momentous challenge to change, I am hopeful in going forward.” ~ Marge Margulies
“I so appreciate what I got to know about myself and my core beliefs. I needed to learn to accept, to understand, to be, and to love. Paradoxically, it is so freeing! My core beliefs are no longer my enemies, more like old (and sometimes dear) friends.” ~ Paula Rossi
