We all know what a difference skillful communication can make in the workplace. Trust, productivity, well-being, team cohesion and pure enjoyment are all greatly affected by the way people communicate and navigate through stress and conflict.
For 11 years I’ve taught communication skills to teams in corporate, not-for-profit and other organizational clients. I’ve also used the same methodology when coaching clients in workplaces. Now, for the first time, I’m making this available in a public workshop. The curriculum will include::

The Communication Dojo approach is inspired in part by teaching from martial arts. This is not a lecture series. The teaching is highly interactive and there will be plenty of experiential learning in pairs and/or small groups – “learning by doing.”
Some features of the Communication Dojo:
*Efficient use of class time to maximize learning
*High proportion of practice time in pairs – learning communication by communicating.
*Little likelihood of people developing any sense of “Doing it wrong” or “Trying to do it right.”
Who’s it for?
This workshop is open to anyone who wants to improve their workplace communication skills.
About Newt Bailey
Newt Bailey is a business consultant providing communication training, coaching and mediation services. He is the founder of The Communication Dojo and a Collaborative Trainer with Bay Area Nonviolent Communication. He works in organizations in the corporate, educational, and not-for-profit sectors, and has also taught NVC to prisoners and parolees. Newt has also led multiple yearlong programs on mediation and coaching using Nonviolent Communication in the USA and Europe.
Newt’s passion is sharing the communication skills he uses in his own life and work. He has seen firsthand that communication skills can be learned and improved, and that doing this can save us a great deal of time and energy that we then get to use to live life joyfully and to fill our work lives with passion, growth, mastery, productivity and creativity.
Newt received an MA in Physics from Oxford University in England. He then worked briefly in sales, followed by seven years as a high school math teacher and department chair, before moving into software engineering and corporate management. After leaving the corporate world in 2004 Newt started to study NVC mediation, and has been working in the field of communication and conflict resolution since 2007.
Newt Bailey brought the “Communication Dojo” to Dogster, Inc. After only two sessions there was already a marked improvement in office communication. We learned to listen to what a person is really saying and to say what we really mean. We learned new tools with which to deal with conflict and stressful situations. These tools are tools of connection, efficiency and peaceful resolution. I know it is sometimes hard to see the ROI on these types of sessions in a business, but I cannot emphasize enough that the “Communication Dojo” will bring your company or group great returns.
